LORAC Beauty & The Beast Eye Shadow Palette

Tale as old as time....

When I was young, like little girls often do, I was obsessed with fairy tales - prince, princesses, large castles, talking animals, far away lands, wealth and all of the fuzzy feelings that come with charming magic and romance. I found the pinnacle of fairy tales when I watched Disney's Beauty and the Beast. I can remember my 6 year old self instantly drawn into the world of Belle and her love of books, and I saw a little bit of myself in her, even at that age. The story and movie instantly became my favorite, and remains so until this day. Yes, 20 something years later, it still enchants me!

Yes, I still own my VHS!

When Disney came out this year with the live-action version of Beauty and the Beast, like most girls of my generation, I was estatic. Although I enjoyed it, I was not overly impressed. The animated version apparently will always be my very favorite. However, along with this new release, came a wave of new products that were Beauty and the Beast themed. This was including, but not limited to, a release of a limited edition premier makeup line from LORAC cosmetics! [insert 1000+ heart emojis here!]

When this first popped up on my instagram one random day a few weeks ago, I believe my heart stopped. It was two of my very favorite things coming together! And I love LORAC products! You have to admit, although it is kitschy with such a "childhood" theme, the collection is absolutely beautiful.

I believe that everything - the color selection, the packaging -  fits the theme and the iconic colors of the story very well!

The product that really caught my eye [no pun intended!] - was the eye shadow palette. Shaped like a book [with even a ribbon!], with the enchanted rose on the front, a mirror on the inside that matches the movie, and not to mention that beautiful shades of the characters and the scenery. It just instantly had to be mine, one way or another!

I resisted buying it for what felt like a long time. Even though it does have 16 shades, $48 is really hard to swallow! But week before last, I just broke down and did it. It became available on Ulta, and I couldn't stand it anymore! I watched a review from YouTube beauty guru Tati, where she absolutely raved about the eye shadows, and that sealed the deal for me. I have too many eye shadow palettes than one person should be allowed to have, so really, what is one more, right?

So beautiful, just like a fancy book!

Turns out, one more is pure bliss! Because this is every bit of gorgeous that I ever imagined it would be!

Look at that mirror! Just like the one from the movie.

LORAC has a reputation for beautiful eye shadows that are long lasting, non-creasing, soft, and pigmented. They call it their classic "PRO" formula. Tati was correct - the shadows in this palette set the bar higher than the past versions of the PRO formula. I own 2 other LORAC palettes [the Pro 3 and Pro-To Go], and although they are both good, this one is a step above. Every single color is impressive and applies flawlessly. All shades are completely wearable, and can be combined to create so many different eye looks.

Lots of soft, feminine shades, mixed with dark chocolates, a navy [like the Beast's famous suit!] and gray.

The names of the shadows are so appropriate and cute [I really want to be a makeup product namer!]. Here they are with a description of each color from the Ulta website:

  • Impress (dark mahogany matte)
  • Romance (burgundy matte)
  • Chip In (rose cream matte)
  • Tick Tock (true mauve matte)
  • Enchanting (blush gold shimmer)
  • Look Beyond (tawny matte)
  • My Castle (spiced bronze shimmer)
  • Time Keeper (cool bronze shimmer)
  • Inner Beauty (pink peony matte)
  • Our Guest (stone grey matte)
  • Tea Time (antiqued silver shimmer)
  • Dream It (iced gold shimmer)
  • Swept Up (black shimmer)
  • Spell Breaker (warm espresso shimmer)
  • Beast Mode (midnight blue shimmer)
  • Real You (fairytale pink shimmer)

All the shadows are so beautiful, there isn't one that I would avoid. And while LORAC is known for their matte shadows, it is the shimmers that steal the show in this palette! I was so disappointed when I purchased the PRO 3 last year, and the shimmer shades I thought would be so amazing were sort of lackluster - hard to build and barely pigmented. But in this palette, you almost have to back off the shimmer shades a little bit because things can get over dramatic, really quick! [But I don't know, it's Beauty and the Beast, you may want dramatic?]

Here's the link to a look using the eye shadow palette.

These are my very favorite shadows so far:

Clockwise: Tea Time, Timekeeper, Our Guest, & Dream It

Tea Time, Timekeeper, and Our Guest are very unique - I don't own anything else that is close to matching their shade, with comparable quality. Dream It is so smooth, and the perfect highlighting shade. You can see, all of my favorites are shimmer shades. The formula is just amazing!

I have been using this palette solely for the past week and a half, and I just keep loving it. I can see myself using this very often, throughout all the seasons. And it will probably take a while for the novelty to wear off for me! Did I mention I love Beauty and the Beast? ;)

Lovely, inspirational sayings are inside the palette.

This would make a great gift for someone that you know loves makeup and Disney. But really, you should probably just buy one for yourself, too. You can get them on ulta.com at time to posting this [the LORAC Cosmetics site is already sold out!]. This is a limited edition collection, so if you're interested, purchase soon! If you are a makeup lover, you will not regret it!
